Day 2 of Quantum Wellness: giving up caffeine.
I know I'm addicted to caffeine. I usually enjoy several cups of black tea a day starting with first thing in the morning. I already know I get a wicked headache if I don't get caffeinated, so I'm not quite ready to tackle this on a weekday. I do need to be useful and productive at work. So I'm testing out some cutbacks. So I did have the usual cup of black tea this morning and I've been experimenting with some herbal teas since then. The Get Charged from the Republic of Tea does have a nice pick me up. I also have some Ginger Peach White Tea that I'll try this afternoon when I need a fix. White teas do have caffeine, but a lower dose than black or green teas. I also like adagio teas, and they have some really nice herbal teas and flavored decaf black teas like strawberry.
Hopefully less everyday caffeine will make it easier to go cold turkey this weekend. Giving up cheese was WAY easier than this.

It's always a good idea to cut back on or detox from some things you love , but have too much. You appreciate them more after and usually need less to get the desired effect. Example--I used to have soy lattes ALL the time, to the point where they didn't do much for me. Now I only have one when I'm writing a paper, having a really awful day, or am just craving one, and I really feel the caffeine now--more bang for mu buck! Good luck :)
I'm really impressed that you are doing this detox! You are an inspiration, and I think that I will get the book, read it on my vacation, and probably do the detox when I get back.
Caffeine is very hard for me to give up as well. You're right, cheese was much easier! I also like the comment that Nora left!
Good luck!
Mm... good for you... I've been working on giving up coffee out but haven't stopped myself from giving my espresso machine a workout at home! :) Heehee...
I remember though this coffee place I used to go to when I was in school had this really great herbal tea they called Sport-T we never could find a worker that could tell us exactly what was in it but it was really light, refreshing, and somehow sort of gave you a non-caffeinated buzz... mm... I should try and find that stuff! :)
You are a better woman than I. I have one addiction left and that's caffeine. I'm not ready to give it up...but good luck to you!
ever since my first pregnancy, i've laid off the caffeine. i have a little every now and then, but i just know there's decaf if i'm really really craving it. i've found that i sleep much better without it.
Good luck! Caffeine is a beast!
That's one addiction I'm glad I never picked up. I enjoy the occasional cup of coffee or tea, but I mostly drink water.
Now...sugar? That's a whole different thing. I really should break that addiction.
I found Teeccino a really great help when I cut back on my black tea intake!
I used to be a caffeine fiend. 4 or 5 cups of strong Spanish coffee a day. Then I reduced it gently at a time then I just cut it out. It wasn't a deliberate action just something that gradually happened off it's own accord. I still have a cup of tea in the morning though (I am English after all!!)
I then had a coffee a few months back and I had never felt so ill in my life!!
Shakes, palpitations, headaches, nausea. BLEURGH! It was horrid.
It's just amazing how quickly our bodies adapt and get used to different things.
