New Year's Eve - from the couch

I'm staying in for New Year's Eve this year and I couldn't be happier about it. I picked up some more Dr. Cow cashew cheese to bring to a New Year's Day party tomorrow and we'll see how the omni foodies like it.

Side effect of going to a cool health food store in the village (Life Thyme, again, 6th ave btw 8th & 9th sts) is the prepared dishes in the deli. Most of what I saw is vegan and much of it is raw, too. This is a roasted vegetable pie with butternut squash, zucchni, kale, collard greens, eggplant and, quinoa. It was pretty darn good. I really should eat more vegetables.

Happy New Year from the couch, ya'll!

Happy New Year! I hope you have a great time staying in--that's what I normally do, but I'm determined to get out a little bit this year. I'm always a little surprised that places like Times Square really exist! I can't even imagine how crowded it gets!

until reading this post, i was gladly ringing in the new year on the couch as well. but your previous post has left me with a cashew cheese craving so severe that i'm busting out the food processor for it's last whirl of 2008...

I was asleep for the new year, hee hee. What a quiet one. Looking forward to the report on the cheese and omni reaction. The veg pie looks delicious. So many layers, and layers of flavor. Even things I'd not have thought to combine sound great in that dish.

That's the best way to celebrate NYE, in my opinion. Good food and a comfy couch.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I need to eat more veggies too. Sometimes, I look back at the food I've eaten all day and realize it's mostly carbs and protein. I think I'll make that a resolution.

jenn!!! i absolutely love top gun. i laughed so hard when you mentioned that movie. it's definitely better than risky business. last night, i saw valkyrie because tom cruise is in it. i'd definitely wait to watch it on video if i were you. it's not that good.

that pie looks awesome!!! i love not having to prepare food. i wish there were places around here that i could get prepared vegan stuff. i usually end up getting veggie sushi.

Omnis at New Year's day party were intrigued, but not overwhelmed with the Dr. Cow cheese. Everyone in the immediate area tried it, though. It was a work collegue's fete so it was a mature crowd (roughly my mom's age-you do the math), so I'd call even sampling non-dairy cheese a success. There was a great fig jam that I put on top of the cashew cheese which made it even more awesome. Figs rock.

Jenn--where did you find Dr. Cow? My sis in NYC has been trying to find it for me but the stores listed on the Dr. Cow site don't have any! Bummer. I will be in NYC in two weeks and was hoping to pick some up. If you have any tips on where to get some, that would be great! Happy new year!!!
